“We took part in a Skid pan course just after Christmas with Trent Safety People. We found it a very valuable learning experience for both of us, with over fifty years of driving between us. One session we spent out on the roads being assessed by a highly qualified instructor who made us realise how important good driving practices are. The next session we spent on the skid pan - what a fabulous experience!!I was very apprehensive, having not been on a skid pan before, but TRY TO GET ME OFF IT!!
We used both front and rear wheel drive cars and learnt how to control both in the event of a skid.
The whole day was very enjoyable and good value for money.
Two weeks after the course we had heavy snow. I very nearly came to grief trying to avoid another car on a country lane, however, I managed to steer out of the skid and away from the high bank which was fast approaching - I know my reaction times were good because of the skid pan training, and am pleased to say it saved me from injury and my car from any damage.
